Day 20 - Marloes to Newgale

I stated off with a good breakfast and chat with the owner at the Clock House. I had a brief look around Marloes, a sweet little village.

Onto the coastal path where I remained for the rest of the day. The first stretch to St Brides passes impressive cliffs and an enormous baronial mansion, and then the village itself.

The walk to Little Haven was particularly enjoyable. The sun was out, the skies blue, the seas gleaming, the cliffs red and the grass green. As I walked along, butterflies danced along with me and the cries of seabirds nesting in the cliffs and sweet songbirds chirping all around could be heard. It was lovely indeed.

Some pretty woods let down to Little Haven whete I sat on the point and ate my packed lunch looking out at the tide coming in over the large sandy beach. It was windy but a perfect spot to relax in.

Along the next stretch I was surprised to find a whole band of ponies grazing on the clifftops with the path leading right through them.

After another scenic section of cliffs, I stopped on Druidstone Beach, which has a long smooth glistening wall where water falls slowly over a wide expense of rock and catches the sunlight, making a magical, somewhat druidy scene.

Also note the Chinese hat that I didn't start my trip with. I lost my hat the other day and found this in a hedge so I strapped it to my bag and waited until I went to the laundrette then got them to boil it thoroughly before wearing it!

Around some more cliffs and Newgale Sands cans into view, a long stretch of sand then pebbles with Newgale itself visible in the distance.

As the tide was in I walked along the stones, passing a caravan park then campsite, then at the end the welcoming sight of the Duke of Edinburgh inn where I was staying the night.

Sadly today I got very sunburnt for the first time this trip. I had dinner but was too sore to be sociable so went up to bed and doused myself in lavendar oil and aloe vera and tried to lie still to soothe myself. It was Saturday night and lots of rowdy singing was going on downstairs, with the sounds of Sweet Caroline amongst other classics being belted out heartily. I quite liked hearing everyone have fun, even if I didn't join in this time.
