I promised it earlier and can finally give some insight into one of my favourite passages from my dad’s 1972 journal. To refresh your memory, here is what he wrote…

This was intriguing, and more so because there wasn't a single mention on the internet of a Miss Dairymaid contest ever having existed! I had to find out more.

I made enquiries when I saw my cousins in Shropshire and Julie (my second cousin, Sheila,’s daughter) contacted her aunt Monica (now in her 70s).
